We love pesto! Our garden is exploding with basil and that makes me happy. The girls love making basil pesto. It adds so much flavor to a variety of dishes. This easy peasy basil pesto is easy to make and tastes amazing.
This basil pesto takes 5 minutes to make and you likely have all the ingredients in your kitchen. You can make extra and freeze it for later. We like putting basil pesto on salmon, pasta, pizza, and sandwiches, it really takes the flavour of some of your favorite dishes to the next level. Instead of using pine nuts we used toasted walnut nuts, I have seen recipes use hemp hearts, keeping it nut free and appropriate for school lunches.
